The Mysterious Affair at Styles introduces Christie's famous detective, Hercule Poirot, to the world and creates the conventions that will be used for mystery novels for decades to come.  A rich, elderly woman is poisoned at her manor house, and the suspects abound.  Fortunately, Hercule Poirot is brought onto the scene to exercise his "little grey cells" and ferret out the truth.
