Field Notes Book Group

The Field Notes Book Group will meet in the Program Room to discuss our August selection, A Thousand Ships, by Natalie Haynes.  Copies of the book will be available at the Circulation Desk.

A Thousand Ships tells the classical stories of The Iliad, The Odyssey and a variety of Greek tragedies from the perspective of the female characters, giving a broader sense of what the war and the aftermath of the war were really like.  Famous men appear in somewhat different guises and looking somewhat less heroic, whereas the women who too often occupy the background of the myths take center stage in suprising ways in this collection of related stories.
