Join the Field Notes Book Group for our discussion of our November selection, Master Slave Husband Wife by Ilyon Woo. Copies are available at the Circulation Desk.
The Pulitzer Prize winning biography tells the extraordinary story of an enslaved couple in the 1840's who escaped to freedom by disguising themselves as a disabled white man and his slave, traveling in public from Georgia to the north. They then became celebrated abolitionists themselves, until the Fugitive Slave Act made them run for their lives from the United States altogether.
This should be an exciting read and a stimulating discussion. Refreshments will be available.
