Field Notes Book Group

Join the Field Notes Book Group as we discuss our August Selection, The American Daughters, by Maurice Carlos Ruffin.  Copies are available at the circulation desk.

The American Daughters is a historical novel, set just before the Civil War, in New Orleans.  Ady and her mother are enslaved women, and when Ady is separated from her mother, she finds her way to a group of African American women, free and enslaved, who are working together as spies determined to undermine the system and, when the war starts, the Confederacy.

We should have a lively discussion, and we will definitely have refreshments.
